With the strong economy and an attractive housing market, Boise Idaho is an attractive place to relocate to. The population is aging but overall the growth rate is above average. Real estate values are also reasonable. As with any location in Idaho, there are plenty of local jobs and geographic advantages as well.

The average housing price is above the national average but below that of Spokane, Washington. The cities of Elko and Spokane have above average population growth. Both cities have strong business climates and have become popular retirement destinations. Both cities enjoy above average tourism and have access to major highways, airports and railroads. The weather is generally warm and pleasant. The cost of living is slightly higher than in comparable cities, but the cost of living in general has improved in recent years.

The city of Boise is strategically located in an ideal location for access to major highways and interstates. It is also centrally located in Idaho, where there are a number of employers servicing both individuals and businesses. There are a variety of jobs in the labor force such as teachers, business owners, truck drivers, attorneys, doctors, accountants and many other types of workers needing various types of jobs.

There are some drawbacks to moving to or residing in Boise. Although the city has above average population growth, there is a large gap between the richer and poorer residents. Crime is above the national average but lower than the rest of Idaho. Property crime is slightly above the national average but lower than the rest of Idaho. The cost of living is slightly higher than in other cities but not by much. It is still a good choice for individuals seeking to relocate to an area with an attractive work environment, excellent educational opportunities and a moderate crime rate.

Real estate prices are currently between fair to good and the growth rate is slow. This means the supply is higher than demand. Inventory is also fairly high, but sales have been sluggish due to a lack of new development. As more people move to the cities and settle, the inventory of available homes will grow but it will take quite a while before the supply exceeds demand.

The Idaho State Legislature has recently passed a bill that allows cities to raise their minimum density requirements. This will stimulate more residential and commercial development in the cities and allow those communities to compete with each other for the same business and income-earning property. The goal is to have a population that is close to two percent above the national average. Currently, the national average for the population growth is one percent a year and the Idaho State Legislature estimates that it will double in the next ten years. There is an estimated ninety thousand people moving to Idaho every year and the state projects that the population will continue to increase at a steady rate through at least the next decade. Real estate professionals in Idaho are cautiously optimistic about the potential for growth.
